CELL PHONE BAN FOR DELAWARE DRIVERS

A new Delaware law, governing the use of cell phones and hand held electronic devices while driving, becomes effective on January 2, 2011.

Delaware will be the eighth state to ban hand-held cell phones for non-exempt drivers. Fines will range from $50, for the first offense, to a maximum of $200 for additional occurrences. The law was signed July 6, 2010, but not effective for 180 days, to allow for public awareness. Other examples of hand-held items affected are pagers, laptops, games, two-way communication devices, etc.
