Christiana Mall, Delaware Goes "PG"

It seems that nerdy old me is quite elated over the fact that the Christiana Mall in Delaware will be requiring parental supervision of the under 18 crowd on Friday and Saturday nights after 5pm. I am certain that this was a financially based decision, as unwieldy packs of roaming teenagers tend to impede the progress of earnest shoppers , thereby causing a disruption in monetary flow. With today's economic woes, this new strategy is understandable.

Beginning the weekend of July11, security guards will be checking ID's at various mall entrances during the above referenced time. (It's younger employees will be required to provide a Christiana Mall ID.) Any unchaperoned person under the age of 18 remaining in the mall during these evening hours will be detained until picked up by a parent.

Personally, I have avoided “The Mall” on weekend evenings due to the fact that it was overrun by an unruly pubescent crowd . It will be interesting to see how well this new policy is enforced.

IRS Increases Mileage Rates through Dec. 31, 2008

I guess this falls under the "we'll take what we can get" category...

Due to rising gas prices, The Internal Revenue Service today announced an increase in the optional standard mileage rates for the final six months of 2008. Taxpayers may use the optional standard rates to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business, charitable, medical or moving purposes.

The IRS normally updates the mileage rates once a year in the fall for the next calendar year.
