Ching Ming Festival will mean office closures

Today many people in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan are celebrating the Ching Ming Festival (aka Qing Ming Festival). Ching Ming marks the beginning of spring by honoring ancestors at their gravesites. "Ching" means pure or clean and "Ming" means brightness.

This is a major public holiday so you should expect that government agencies, banks and schools to be closed in areas of the world where this ritual is observed. In the United States, Ching Ming is most commonly observed in Hawaii.

It is also considered to be bad luck to conduct important business on this day and as a result, you will likely find many businesses closed.
