U.S. POSTAL SERVICE FIVE-DAY DELIVERY PLAN

As the U.S.Postal Service turns 235 years old this year, the revenue continues to drop drastically as many people switch to the use of electronic message. This trend is predicted to continue during the next decade.
For the last several years, it has taken cost-cutting measures, seven legislative and regulatory changes and increasing postal rates (which has been done nine times since 1999).
This five-day delivery plan is another attempt to help USPS partially recover from the losses incurred for many years and to cope up with ever changing customer needs. There will no longer have delivery of mail to street addresses (residences and businesses) on Saturday. Post Offices will remain open six days from Monday to Saturday, and P.O.Box addressed mail will still be delivered on Saturday as well as Express Mail will still run seven days a week.

If Congress does not oppose to this plan, it is schedule to take effect in fiscal year 2011.To get an update about the potential five-day delivery schedule, you can go to http://www.usps.com/communications/five-day delivery.
