Honoring Woman Business Owners

March is Woman’s History Month.

In honor of this, it seems more than appropriate that we spend some time recognizing and celebrating the American business woman. After all, women have been influencing and changing the shape of our nation’s business community from the very beginning.

The names of some enterprising women like printer Mary Katherine Goddard, or financier Hetty Green may rarely be recognized, but most everyone alive today knows of the success Oprah Winfrey and Martha Stewart.

Here are some facts that I found at the National Women’s Business Council website:
  • Majority-owned, privately-held women-owned firms account for 30 percent of all business in the country.

  • The number of women-owned businesses continues to grow at twice the rate of all U.S. firms.

  • One in eighteen women in the U.S. is a business owner.
No matter if you are a small business owner or a modern day tycoon in the making, the fact is that that women are finding success in business.

For more information and help to both professionals and begninners alike check out the valuable resources found at the Online Women's Business Resource Center or at the NAWBO website.
